Effective December 5, 2025, New Yorkers will not be allowed to play at the World Poker Tour's online sweepstakes poker room ClubWPT Gold. In fact, if you try to log into your account on the site, you will be blocked. Governor Kathy Hochul signed a bill that makes it illegal for gambling sites to use the sweepstakes model, which includes ClubWPT Gold. So, if you have chips that need to be redeemed, New York residents can login from an approved jurisdiction like Pennsylvania, Massachusetts or Vermont.

It appears California is next to lose ClubWPT access on January 1, 2026.

That's sad i don't know why everyone have problem with poker . Ban gambling but poker is not completely gambling it also requires skill

That's really unfortunate. Land of the free-but not to play poker. Once in a while politicians will develop a fixation on something. And since they can't fix bigger problems, they try to do something that makes them look like they're trying to fix other problems. How is poker even on their radar ? With an affordability crisis, homeless crisis, crumbling infrastructure, restricted access to healthcare and so many bigger issues-yet it's poker they want to legislate on. And most have no knowledge about the economic impact of poker and the number of jobs it creates.

Had no idea of sweepstakes poker until today...I still don't understand why politics seems to constantly butt its nose into the entertainment world with respect to poker, yet has no qualms about the addictiveness of first shooter games online...our children's lives are at stake...fix that first before depriving consenting adults a relatively innocuous pastime.

I think the states with the biggest gdp and third biggest gdp will be just fine 😅,

but yeah it's sad for poker, it's always about the money, they want people spending the money

in their states casinos and lotteries so they can get their cut... just follow the money

I played for two weeks and during that time there were multiple times that I was passed over and not allowed to bet after i had put money into the pot, also I saw where my raises were changed to call or fold, and sometimes I was folded and not allowed to play in a contested hand. All these things happened on multiple occasions in multiple games over a 2 week span.

I had a friend whose cashout was denied and account frozen after he had 2 huge scores in big MTT events . Really shady site it seems .
