This is definitely tough news to read, especially for people who learned a lot from his work. Sklansky’s books had a massive impact on how poker is understood and taught, and it’s normal to feel disappointed or conflicted when someone so influential is involved in something like this. Many of us separate a lot of our own poker growth from the person and associate it with the ideas themselves.

At the same time, it’s important to remember that these are allegations and legal processes take time. Whatever the outcome, it’s okay to acknowledge both things at once: the value his contributions had for the game, and the seriousness of the situation being reported. One doesn’t automatically erase the other, but it also doesn’t excuse anything.

.... haven't heard about any battery accusations specifically so this may or may not prove to be true,

... poker wise you won't find any better books than Sklansky...

Agree completely Emily and depending on the context/situation that bought up these charges....there's a couple at his age it may not be that bad a situation and the charges could be understandable. Alzheimer's and Dementia are no joke and change people drastically.

One thing no one can take from Sklansky and that is he's responsible for teaching and learning a whole generation of us player and had a major role in the style of play many of us play and for that many of us should still be thankful regardless of this.

If he's convicted by a jury of his peers then yes, he's got it coming. Until then, he has the right to be innocent until proven guilty.

Yeah of course, knowing literally nothing about the case at all either, I'm not suggesting I think he's guilty. Equally I'm not gonna wish him luck, if he didn't do it he shouldn't need it!

Everybody hurts... everybody cries... everybody does a LOT OT MISTAKES in life, minors and big ones... If he is properly guilty, he will pay for it, but will not erase everythink good he did in life as the internet likes to do to people everyday.

Man… I always knew The Theory of Poker had some tough chapters, but I didn’t realise ‘3‑betting the police’ was one of them.

At least the DA folded faster than most people do to his turn barrels.

I do it the same way ! I don't get why people can't seperate art from the artist.
We don't have to like someone's character in order to appreciate the art.

And asides from that.. who is left when we only consume artwork from people who we consider decent?
They are all sick in their heads ,😆

I sincerely believe to become a great artist, smth has to be seriously wrong with you 😅
