Seems like the cries of a tilted player to me.I have seen more than my fair share of accusations from a player who lost a big hand over the years.It always easier to accuse someone of cheating than it is to admit their own short comings.

What is the O8 Software Program?

Its a computer program designed to beat humans in poker. Similar to the AI software designed to beat humans in chess and backgammon. The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) has a competition every year to create a bot system that can beat the best players in the world. Programs such as "INOT" and its successor "Fell Omen 2" are a few examples of what I believe Gus Hansen is speaking of.

Hmmm! So programs exist that take away the sport? ARod cheated and is very wealthy and its possible he'll be able to return to baseball. I'm sure the programs will not be used in the small stakes I play, but where $millions can be made by cheating in a couple day's time I don't see any way it'll be able to be clean. Even a banned known cheater could use a buffer identity. So if you're good at poker, you better play only live action or else only small stakes. Geez!

I dont know that its that black and white but i dont think its an impossible thought that a handful of players are using tools such as these. Since the creation of poker people have always tried to cheat the game, this is just a much more advanced way of attempting it, but just as any other way to cheat its not fool proof and there are risks involved.

I doubt there is a successful program HU... has not been shown anyway... thats in HE... in O8 is almost unimaginable that a winning bot exists... who the hell plays HU 08 at nosebleed stakes? Who would design and test the program and for what cost? Etc...

I wasn't suggesting that there was. Only made the comment in reference to the 'O8' which seemed to have been considered by others to be the name of some special program or something.

Actually the firs AI programs were made for HU play, now they are perfecting bot programs for full tables

no matter what the game when it comes to online there's always the posssibilty of ''host booting'' which in simple terms is flooding an ip address that your in contact with using ''bots'' which is a collection of viruses that hackers spread on random peoples comuters through torrent downloads which allows the said hacker too use these bots (peoples computers) to flood the ip address of the victim and the more the hacker has spread them the more bots he has in his arsenal. so in heads up you should only have to ip's yours and the opponents which you can get by using a ip sniffer which is widely available. Whether or not this is known and counteracted by the sites is unknown but i too have been playing heads-up and have had my internet interfered with but i quickly reset my router and rejoined and still won but the moral of the story is that it is possible to do this as it has been happening on xbox live for many years and people have been doing this to close small web sites connection as well and its not the hardest thing to do so its quite common :s

By the way I'm by no means trying to condone this action or trying to scaremonger I'm simply sharing my experience in this pathetic cyber crime

You're describing a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack, which is used to take down a site or render it inoperable, and has absolutely nothing to do with using bots to cheat at poker.

And yeah, O8 in this context is referring to an Omaha 8-or-better game. He's not naming a specific software, he's saying that some kind of O8 AI software is being used. I don't know if any exist as I don't play O8, but I'd be surprised if there were any very good ones just considering the state of HE bots in general. Gus just "runs bad." He plays an extremely aggressive and high variance style in what is already a higher variance game.
