Earlier this year, Partypoker made the controversial decision to eliminate downloadable hand histories from its site as a way to stop players from effectively using HUDs. Last week, PartyPoker announced that hand histories are coming back to the site, though in a different form.

Would you be ok with having at least downloadable hand histories? or does it matter anymore?

That is indeed good news and will increase the chance of me trying out PartyPoker at some point.

I believe it's better this way , having the option to download your hand history to check your stats , but at the same time maintaining the anonymity of other players to protect them , the small fish like me lol.

I think it is a step in the right direction. I dont like this whole anonymus thing where some of those sites are heading. They should just ban HUD's so the games would become more softer. Hand historys should be of course available do analyse your game.

I'd feel a bit more comfortable if they showed Country name for each player... and also show how many tables that player is sitting at.
I see some guys playing on FastForward tables where I'll see them at 12noon, 5pm.. 10pm.. 2am.. 5am. (basically 24hrs./day!). I keep track of screenames.
In the past at least I could see what country they were from and how many tables they were playing on (players who are 4-tabling FF tables and playing 20hrs. per day are generally not humans). Ones I would occasionally identify as BOTS and would see them playing in this manner and then they would completely disappear... never on there again... and then there'd be another couple dozen players, doing the same thing... & again they'd be gone after 3to4 weeks... only to be refilled by still more. I've also received some refunds due to being on tables with BOTS (but very small amounts & only a couple of times).
My level of confidence would be increased if I could at the very minimum be able to see what country the players are from (although I've also heard that suspected BOT rings from Bulgaria will use VPN to say they are playing from Ukraine or elsewhere..... but it's still good to see imo). It would also put me a bit more at ease vs Colluders.

In an ideal world people would be able to analyze only their own hand histories. It does seem wrong that you can access a players last 5k hands and yet have never been on the table with him.

However I'm sure there will always be ways round this.

I personally like the changeable name format. After a month you can effectively scrub your hand history to others and start a clean sheet. They won't know straight away what a folding machine I am!

There's a certain type of player who is only interested in what is good for them rather than what is good for the game overall. They advocate for things that suit them while pretending that it is "for the good of the game".

Poker cannot survive without the recreational losing player therefore they should always be the primary customer. The more goodies and benefits they get the better. Sometimes it doesn't even have to be money. The enjoyment of the site, they get a feel good factor simply by showing up.

As with anything the more competition and diversity the better. People can then choose what they want

Why should they just ban HUDs? They are a part of online poker, if you don’t like it play on a site that doesn’t have them. Don’t promote industry wide change so it better benefits you

Huds should not exist in the first place because they make the games tougher and scare away potential fish. I already play on sites without huds and they are way softer. There are no huds allowed on partypoker anyway so i not understand what exactly is your claim.

Why? I’m a fish and have no problem with HUDs. Why do you want to dictate how other people play poker? There’s plenty of fish on Pokerstars and there will continue to be, HUDs or not.

But it frustrates me when people go around like “HUDs should not be allowed” simply because they don’t like them. If you play on party, you have no reason to ever bring up HUDs again. Especially if you’re telling people who do like using them they shouldn’t be able to

To my knowledge there are no poker sites, that allow players to access or download hand histories other than their own. Trackers can pick up hands, where you sit on a cash table but are not dealt cards, because you are waiting for the blinds or sitting out. However most if not all sites either completely prohibit collection of observed hands (888) or limit the number severely (Stars), so that in reality it does not matter. So to get hand histories on another player, you need to be on the table with him and pay the blinds or the tournament fee. Which is of course also completely fair.

Look its only my personal opinion. In the end i think no 3rd party softwares should be allowed at all when you open a poker client.

I complety understand your point but why you think a lot of people who are new to poker quit also very quickly online? maybe some of them feel like they have a disadvantage against those players with "programms"?

I would support a hud integrated in the software though, available for all players:eek:

I think, new players quit, because they lose, and because online poker today compete with many other kinds of entertainment. I also think, people hating on HUDs in forums etc. have done more to chase away recreational players from poker than the HUDs themselfes. Its a hugely overblown issue, so maybe time to just move on and let it rest. As someone said, there are already plenty of HUD-free games to play in.

This is great news. The player has the right to see how he played his hands in order to conduct at least a superficial analysis of his game.

Without discussing the advantages and disadvantages of HUD implementation. I think that hand histories are a right that all players have, I'm glad Partypoker reconsidered their decision to eliminate the histories, because hand histories are a fundamental tool of each player to know the results, record and improve their game, and also do not forget that hand histories have sometimes been used to help detect collusion, superusers and other types of fraud.

I agree with this. I want to see the hand histories after session so this is good even I don't play much in party.
