Americans playing online outside US

I'm curious as to how this works for US citizens who go to Mexico or Canada (or elsewhere) and play on PokerStars there. I was listening to a podcast of somehow who went to Canada to play the PS COOP and stayed at a rental place.

I get that if you have a permanent address outside the US, you can use that address to create a PS account. But how do people who live in the US and travel and rent temporary space do this?

Does this mean that I could use my existing PS account if I was anywhere outside of the US? I doubt that could be true, so how does it work? Anybody know for sure?

They are not claiming to be there temporarily when they do it. You would need the assistance of someone who lives there.

think a lot of players moves out of US play.
think need to provide any evidence that at least during several months you are not located in US.

Really all you need is an address with utilities and a bank account in your name. You don't have to permanently move or change your (national) residency/citizenship. In some countries this is harder to do without a more permanent visa (like a work visa) but in others it's a simple matter of showing up with the money.
