I’d like to ask the community — do you use the player note and color tagging features in your poker rooms?
Almost every site allows you to mark players with different colors (tight, loose, aggressive, etc.), but I’m wondering how many people actually use it regularly.
Do you find it helpful?
Or do you mostly just rely on your memory and instincts?

I use the colors mostly. I'll take notes on guys who I know are regs thou. Yes I find it helps. With that said I also use my memory and instincts are as well. I also have notes for every stake level from 2nl-50nl overall player pool and how the avg player plays overall in the pool. After all one has to know how to adjust to exploit each stake level player pool separately.

Me I kinda work it like this. I use memory and instincts more for the current/recent sessions or MTTs I can remember playing with villain. If I don't see a player for awhile I won't remember how they play so that's when I'll use the colors until I get feel for how that player is playing the current session. Very few players play solidly every session and some study and learn...... meaning sometimes I end up having to change a players color based on new info/knowledge.

In short you wanna use all the info, knowledge and tools you have available to you.

Cheers!!!

Yes I use the colour tags. They give a quick visual representation of, what going on at a table, and if I even want to be there, if its a cash game. Its only a supplement to my HUD though, since I use HUD data when assigning or changing the labels.

To be honest, I didn’t use color tags much at first, but once I started playing more tables, they became super helpful. Just being able to glance and remember, "oh yeah, this guy shoves a lot" or "this one is tight-passive" without digging through hand history saves a lot of time. It’s like having a shortcut to your own notes.

I rely on skills and experience. No instincts.
I've always taken notes. I'm taking notes and I'll definitely continue to do so. Thanks to my notes, I actually get a profit. And for me, this function is a necessity.

As a wpt user, I tag my opponents in notepad. But the color thing sounds interesting, maybe I should consider marking them in wordpad instead

Yes I do . It helps . It helps with future decisions when you play against them . If sb is very loose or tight or bingo player I will take a note or tag him with the appropriate colour

I have been using notes for a long time. They often help me make the right decision. I use a very simple tagging system that was suggested by one of our community members. Take a look, maybe this system will work for you too.

Yes, not only with colors, but also with notes. This is very important when you play several tournaments at once.
But it is also important, at the end of the tournament, to delete all notes and marks. Because not all tournaments will be played the same way, and if they are not deleted, it can have a negative impact on the next game.

Yes I do. I try to avoid the color red, except for the "invincible" players. When someone that strong is at the table, I rarely play.
I usually use less strong colors like orange for strong players, green for fairly strong, yellow for the fish, etc.
Of course, I also write notes nearby, like: good player, crazy player, call station, etc.

Yes, I do tend to guard some players. I usually guard those who bluff a lot and those who are very aggressive.

I mark donkeys, fish, and inadequates with different colours. It helps me. In my opinion, this information is quite valuable and can help make decisions.

I only tag them if I see something meaningful like if they open with garbage, if they call everything or if they only bet with something.
I think that I should tag more players that I actually do, but I use a HUD, so generally I realize if I already know other player.
