Regretting closing my PokerStars account – has anyone been through this?

A few months ago, I asked pokerstars support to permanently close my account. At that time, I really thought I needed a break from the game. But now, after some months, I honestly regret doing it 😔

I contacted their support asking to reopen it, but they refused since the closure was “permanent.”
I really wish there was a way to reverse that decision after some time, especially when the account was verified and had a long play history.

Has anyone else gone through the same situation?
Is there any way or experience of reopening a permanently closed account?
Any advice or personal story would be greatly appreciated 🙏

You're not the only one. There's at least another member from here that has a similar story. If I'm not mistaken it's, @ZenonBR.

I don't think there's a lot of hope though. Permanent has a specific meaning after all.

I also don't play at some sites rn but I just leave my account as is, so it's there when I want to play there again.

I have no experience with this. I have never asked for the closure of a poker account. But if a PokerStars attendee told you that the shutdown is permanent, I doubt anyone outside PokerStars would tell you otherwise.

Yes, although in my case it was just to change my nickname, they interpret it as a gambling addiction.

Well, I’ve already shared my opinion that this is an extreme action since it’s inflexible. However, I’m already over this issue now. There’s another member, @Everaldo, who was also banned and says there’s a time limit before he can play there again. I don’t really believe that, but maybe his case is different since he didn’t make a permanent exclusion.

This is a topic I had already put behind me, since I now play on other platforms. PS ended up being part of the past, but interestingly, I was tagged in this thread, so I’m leaving this reply.

The thing is poker sites have licenses and rules they have to follow if they want to keep those licenses,

if you closed your account for any reason it's closed, it's not allowed to change accounts, change nicknames,

the reasons for that are obvious... one player, one account, the next time you want a break just take a break👍

20+ year mainly Pokerstar's player. I never seen or heard of anyone successful in getting their account re-opened after asking Pokerstars or any site to close it. Regulated sites have laws, rules that they have to follow for responsible gambling regulations. Which can differ from country to country and re-opening closed accounts is not something they can do because of them laws, rules and regulations.

I don't think it's possible. The big above board sites need to keep up with their licensing agreements which include abiding by the countries' gambling and gambling addiction laws..

If you're unable to prevent yourself from playing poker, especially because you're on a downswing, and you feel like you have to write the casino to prevent you from playing you probably shouldn't be playing. I struggle with tilt issues too and I take time away from the game but I just withdrawal my money and do something else for a few days or weeks.

The game has a lot of ups and downs, if you don't like that part of the game you don't actually like poker and are probably closer to a gambler who plays poker than a poker player. It's an amazing tool for growth but a lot of the growth comes from you being able to get destroyed and lose money all over the place one day and then sit down and try and put in your A-Game the next day like you didn't just lose your last week's profit.

Also I don't know about your personal situation but it's foolish to get upset about losing in a game if you don't beat it.

Good morning,
i know exactly how you feel. As a complete newbie, I bet small amounts and was very annoyed with the system because I couldn't win. In short, I had no control over my emotions and no experience. Out of frustration and for my own safety, I took the same step.

After some time had passed, I wrote an honest email to the support team of GGPoker. It explained how my mindset and attitude toward the game had changed. I also guaranteed that I take the responsability for all my losses. It worked, and everyone is happy now.

I recommend you to take this step only if you are really serious about it and not for addiction reasons.

Now i really think, they only did that because i just played with microstakes money, i mean a few pennies.
So whatever, i wish you good luck. But i could understand their laws and rules, if you cant go back.

The best way to take a break from poker is to simply uninstall it from your computer or phone.

PokerStars even offer players to take a time specific cool down or self exclusion period ranging from 24 hours and up to 180 days. Or even indefinite, where players can then ask to have their account manually reinstated, when at least 1 year has passed. All of which can be done through the "tools" menu. So really if this is not enough, and people still feel the need to ask for their account to be permanently closed, then they probably should not be playing.

Ask for account to be closed? Never.

If whatever site suddenly tells me they dont operate in my country anymore (no matter were doing that legally or illegally) and therefore closes my account then it's obviously their loss.

For example with pokerstars i would rather NOT log in to them at all for a single year rather thank ask account to be closed - this way you can actually see whether site is trying to get you back instead with whatever offers - since jokerstars havent even done that then guess they can still suck a lemon
