pokerstars updated their SnG offerings yet again, but this time I actually like, what they did. 9-45 man, 18-45 man and 12-18 man On Demand games have been replaced with 10-32 man On Demand games, so that these games now have the same format all the way from $0.5 to $25 buyin. Which mean you dont need to adjust to a different format, as you move up. They also moved to 8-max format, which is more common for MTTs these days and speed up the action a bit.
Finally the update has solved the issue, that 12-18 mans only went on break every second hour, which was always kind of weird and annoying. The new games all go on the hourly break, so they are super easy to combine with regular MTTs, if you want to. Even the rake is pretty reasonable with 10% for $2 and below, 9% for $5 and 7,5% for $10 and above. So now we just need them to lower the rake for 6-man and 9-man SnGs to the same level. Come on PokerStars, how difficult can it be?
At least up to $5 the new games seem to run 24 hours and pretty much always fill to capacity, so that its always 5 places paying. If you want to play SnGs on PokerStars, this is definitely the game to play. They are also an excellent way to build up your first bankroll and get some tournament practice, since they are essentially small MTTs. So I hope, they will be popular and help to stop the seemingly never ending decline of SnGs.
