What do you think about Private Table?

I downloaded the software a few months ago and began looking forward to the grand opening. Now that it's a few weeks away I have decided to hold off on making my first deposit. I have done a lot of reading on the subject and they are not on solid ground financially and their chairmans attitude seems to be "I am opening and no one can stop me". I honestly hope it does work out, but I am going to wait for some signs of success before I throw in. Are the any other Californians or people from outside California that have been paying attention to this issue and have some input.

I'm not in California, but what the lipay of Santa Ysabel are attempting is groundbreaking, and should not be dismissed out of hand.

The implications over whether or not internet poker is/should be considered Class II gaming under the IGRA is the single most important issue surrounding internet poker today. It could shape the way internet poker spreads across the country, and put the industry in the hands of the tribes.

Even if PrivateTable is underfunded, quirky, sketchy on the regulatory end, if the attempt is successful and eventually deemed legal under the rules of the IGRA, we will see other, larger tribes, with better financials and with support from the industry, make the same move. It may be the way Pokerstars gets their foothold in California as well.

If I were a California player, I would make a small deposit on day 1, and play for a while to see how it goes. If players don't support it, it won't be successful. But players should support it, IMO. It's worth the risk.

Great reply! I have been looking every day and I have been on the site almost daily but it's offfering no information about a start date. Anyone hear anything?

an update..

I just spoke with Private Table and they informed that they will be opeining for cash play within a few days. They will be sending me all the info about play, depositing, promothions... etc. I will post it when I get it. The site is looking better and if you log on and download the software you will see that they have definitely been working at it.. This is a Ca. only site.but could be a big step for online poker as a whole.

After talking to someone at the site last week I was left hopeful but nothing happened. I am wondering how they could possibly succeed when they can't get started... They have been saying in couple days for a couple months and the media hype is now gone.. I will keep this thread updated as news is made available.

Not looking good

Following my last post I checked out a couplen of articles about Private Table and as a betting person I would say odds are the site is never going to happen... I was hipeful but now I can say that they just don't have the legal authority to do it. They tried to say they do over and over but it looks like that didn't make it true enough for them to risk it.. Well see..

The truth comes out.

The people in charge wanted money from the big online poker names to not open PrivateTable.com. Now they have decided to open an online bingo site instead. I don't think they ever had the financial backing they needed and it has all been an elaborate scam that didn't work. The positive spin I am going to put on it is PokerStars will look great in comparison when they come calling next year.

It will not be that long in my mind before we have online poker in NC .For that very reason.I could be wrong of course , but me and carp hope not huh carp.As long as our conservative gov will go with it.Hopefully they will see the tax revenue created in NJ, Delaware ,and California (once they get started).

Well i wasnt thinking about this,but do we get tax revenue from reservations .Im guessing we do .But may be some kind of exception.Anyone know this ?

Indians don't pay taxes, that's why they live and build Cassinos on the Res.. A lot of them aren't even citizens.. They are making so much money here by my house that one group of indians stormed the Casino with guns and took over control... check it out on the news "Chuckchansi" casino in Coarsegold California.. It's worth a fortune and they almost battled it out with thousands of people there..The government has shut the place down... just happened yesterday..

Before I get called a racist let me say that they don't pay taxes on money earned on the Res... They do if they work a job off the Res. I have a lot of Native Ameridan friends and the amout of money that a select few have made from the casinos around here is staggering. Unfortunately it's just a select few, the rest still live in poverty, thus an armed overthrow ...
