Is it allowed to use programs that analyze my opponents while I play?

In most online poker rooms, yes, they are called HUDs (Heads-Up Displays). These tools show real-time statistics of your opponents. However, their use is prohibited in the final stages of major tournaments or in certain rooms to avoid giving players a technical advantage.
This is a very important topic that can be debated. What are your thoughts?

Their use is either prohibited or allowed but there are no rooms that suddenly no more allow them at the final stage of a tournament.

This is a topic that had been already discussed to no end and im sure there are already tons of threads about it but most likely in another section of the forum than "live poker".
