Poker assistance Mobile apps.

I've recently heard of people using mobile Apps that assist players in game with stats ect... Is that even allowed and if not how do they prevent players from using said apps...

Some sites scan your computer or mobile for instances of any prohibited software, but I don't think basic HUDs that track stats are banned at most sites.
