do you track your results in any way? Like check every month how you did and how you improve over time. What software do you use? A simple excel sheet?

If you are going to be a regular poker player I recommend that you invest in a program like PT4 so you can keep all your statistics.

Usually it's best to do this automatically:

** If you're able to use software like PokerTracker or Holdem Manager on the site you're playing, then you can track your cash or tourney results just by having the software auto-import hand histories.

** If you're on a site that allows sharkscope and you play a tournament format, that's another good option.

** For live I would use one of the live poker earnings Apps.

If none of those options worked or you just preferred being closer to the data and having to put it in yourself to keep tabs, then I think Excel would be a nice option too -- would just take a bit more work!

not really but i know i know i improved my game beyond my expectations when i joined CC. but when I want to watch my statistics. I use SharkScope. It is an American site listing all poker players online and on all existing sites as well as players on real tables. This site lists in real time the results of tournaments and games played.

I think you already have the answer: A simple excel spreadsheet already solves.

The App called "brain" is wonderful.

I use an excel sheet with the dates and the sites I play. After every slaying session I update my balance in each poker site and I have a column for my total (sum) bankroll etc. Also some plain formulas which indicate (red/green) if I am up or down for the day plus a monthly sum.

I have also a PT4 tracker but if you are not willing to but a tracking program an excel sheet will finely do the job for you

One simple "trick" is to ask the customer service to provide you with all-time deposits/withdrawal sheet. You couldnt have it in your poker client but if you ask the customer service, I think every poker room will give you that.

I have never kept track on my earnings except the time there was a power-up format in Pokerstars. I do check my earnings from time to time but not in very principal way.

As long as you are net positive and earn at least something, it's not that important to follow very closely - how much money you have made.

I think the basic thing to do is use an Excel (or open source version) spread sheet, which is something I adopted even when simply learning to play with play chips.

I tracked date, site, game, field size, placement and prize awarded with a running total of gains. Its an amazing motivational tool to see a day to day ongoing list of gains/progress. Also the thing is once a sheet has been set up and you have settled on layout/design it can simply be duplicated.

Obviously, the more serious you become as a player the more comprehensive tools you can then employ regarding 'poker tracking'. But an excel sheet is a great fundamental tool to use.

If you want to know your poker saldo then it's better to use your brain, instead of the machine.

X = Total Deposited (spent)
Y = Total Cashed Out
Z = Current Bankroll

And it's as simple as 123:

Y + Z - X = :elefant:

Nope never track anymore, do not care, it more then likely effect how you play. Once I passed the 5,000 mark to the good, I stopped tracking. I do keep a mental note, if it seems I am loosing more then winning I adjust my play a little.

I think this is a very good idea. So far, my bankroll is very small for this. I play on minimax))) Excel works great even if you are a pro)

Yes, I am collecting all the daily results and I keep a file. I prefer a document file. It is important to have your results, because it is easier to watch your course in the game.cguru:

Yes, as a pro it’s an important part of taking the game as seriously as possible. Even without being a pro, I think keeping a monthly account is a good idea—we tend as humans to naturally understate our loses and overstate our wins. Keeping a firm grasp on how we’re doing is a key component of good bankroll management

I keep track of my statistics in an Excel spreadsheet. Works fine for me. I keep track of date, type of tournament, field size, prize pool, finishing position, buy in, pay out, in the money, final table, heads up and victory.

there are some REALLY cool free phone apps out there that really break down each session for you... it will run while you play and you can enter info as much as you want to. i don't want to get points for advertising on CC, but if you go to 'play store' or whatever apple uses, they will come up... it is really cool

Who cares if people know your stats? First of all, it's unlikely that in a single given MTT anyone is looking you up. Secondly, if they know you are profitable how are they going to adjust? I will tell you one thing that has surprised me, the amount of players that "appear" to be knowledgeable, but are long term losing players.

I have holdem manager 3 but also have simple text document in google drive where i list my balance and every tournament where i win or loose money. Maybe i should migrate it to excel spreadsheet some day but for now it also does the job.

I track my Cash Game sessions and Tournaments. I started with Excel, but I wrote my own program to track and report data (Im a Software Engineer).

I find it immensely important. As one member already stated, you need to have snapshots at how well you are doing. Track everything, as much data as possible. Quantify it, and analyze in weekly/monthly blocks. Go back in history and see if you have improved.

I'll look at for instance, my Win/Loss on Show downs and . Track my percentage. Also Pre-Flop/Flops and how well I convert when i enter a hand after the flop.
