The title pretty much says it all. Does any member of the forum do it or tried? What's your experience/opinion?

Always (when I have value). Can't imagine playing poker without it.

Of course...it's mandatory...if you just check down winning hands, you lose so much...not just that hand, but without the extra chips, you lose future leverage.

Whenever it happens, it's no use betting to lose too

Not all players are bluffers.
Perhaps a lot are bluffing for value, but they get identified relatively quick. ;-)

I should've specified I guess since we're on mostly poker dedicated forum. My bad guys. Thought it's enough to have in the 'Sports' sub-forum.
I meant value betting in sports, it's a specific type of long-term betting strategy.

Seems to be no way to edit the title, sadly.

I like playing through value betting, but I still don't dare to raise the stakes too high.

Afraid of bet size limit/account closure?

I’ve tried value betting a few times, mainly in sports markets where the odds were clearly off. It definitely requires discipline and patience, because not every ‘value’ shows results immediately. In the long run though, it can be a solid strategy if you track your bets carefully and stick to proper bankroll management.

Which sports? And have you tried filtering it out somehow (like stats, certain leagues/competitions, etc.)?

Yeah, value betting is a core part of the game — it’s basically how you maximize profit from hands that are ahead. The idea is simple: when you think you have the best hand, you bet an amount that weaker hands will still call.

My experience:

  • Micro stakes / freerolls: Value betting is tricky because players call with almost anything. In those games, betting for value often means going bigger than you would at higher stakes, since people don’t fold top pair or even second pair.
