Is anyone watching the Snooker World Championship?

For the first time myself and a mate have come down to Sheffield and have tickets to a couple of live sessions at the iconic Crucibke Theatre. We went on Saturday evening and have a ticket to Tuesday afternoon too.

This match should be Ronnie O Sullivan vs Ali Carter. Which is amazing as you just have to book the seats and hope for the best!

Our first match was Barry Hawkins v Hossein Vafaei. This was a good even session with both players hahe good breaks.

For those who don’t know, in the early stages, there are 2 tables playing with a dividing wall between, this was lifted for the deciding frame of defending champion Kyren Wilson vs debutant Lei Peifen. Peifen triumphed to put Wilson out!

Well it seems no one else is bothered about the Snooker then! 🤣🤣

Today we definitely have the Ronnie match to look forward to! As it’s a nice day we’re planning to pop down to the big screen area in front of the crucible and take in a bit of the earlier match, while we wait for our match to start at 2pm.

Was a great game, a bit scarppy, but Romnies century was immense as majority of it made with the blue!

Neil Robertson and Barry Hawkins were knocked out in the first round.China's Xiao Guodong made it through to the second round. He thrashed Matthew Selt 10-4. After the defeat, Selt admitted that he was following Judd Trump's example and moving to Dubai to train there. Selt believes that this move will breathe new life into his snooker career.

Tonight I’m gonna flick between the 2 matches. Just been reading about Ben Wollaston’s condition, sounds like he’s doing amazing well justvto be able to play a full match…..never mind the length of the Crucible matches!

That 8-0 session is crazy, but he really can come back, but needs a 6-2 session this evening really! That woukd start to ramp the pressure on Xintong? May not have spelt that correctly?! 😬

I watched almost the whole thing. I was rooting for Ronnie, but he had no chance against the young Chinese.
Who deserved to be world champion in my opinion.

Having watched quite a lot of this tournament, unfortunately I was travelling down to London during the final day, so missed the actual winning moment.

Congrats to Zhao! It will be massive for snooker in China, and we could see more and more new players coming though! European players will have to up their game! 😀
