For me, it will be a fight between Canada and the US -they are strong candidates- 🤔

In conclusion: Group A Canada 🕶

The Olympics are always fun. I voted for the USA. Because they are the current world champions and have shown high-class hockey.

Thanks for posting the the thread. I absolutely can't wait for these games to start.

Canada is by far the favorite but I feel like similar thing happens to them as did in the World Championship. They will rely too much on their star power and will get drowned by resilience of the weaker teams.

I think Germany has high chance of winning. They are motivated since they are rarely top candidates, but have now NHL Superstars on their roster, it's now or never for them. I think Draisaitl is the type of player whose skills transition well into nation vs nation battles and larger arena.

Out of the top candidates I think Finland has the worst chances, Sasha Barkov is injured and lot of players on the roster are the type of players that are good only in specific teams or situations. Synergy is simply not there. I am still gonna vote for them.

My predictions for Groups:

Group A:
Canada 1st
Czechia 2nd

Group B:
Sweden 1st
Finland 2nd

Group C:
Germany 1st
USA 2nd

With US having the best score out of 2nd place finishes and getting the 4th automatic Quarter-Final spot.

Best goal scorers (in groups):
Macklin Celebrini for Canada
Mikael Granlund for Finland
Leon Draisaitl for Germany
David Pastrnak for Czechia
Brock Nelson for USA

Actually they play on smaller rink, even smaller than NHL. I think this lowers Canada's chances even further. I think there is high chance Canada won't win their group.

I wouldn't say Canada is by far the favorite, it's a very competitive field and I wouldn't be surprised if any of the top 6 teams wins gold. Although if Binnington plays the way he did in the 4 Nations cup, I would have Canada as the favorite but that's a tough ask.

The problem with Germany is their depth and their 3rd and 4th lines might be a problem, the only way I see Germany making a deep run is if Grubauer stands on his head.

I think you're underestimating your Country, I agree that Barkov is a huge loss as I have been saying for years he's the most underrated hockey player in the world because not only is he an offensive threat, he's one of the best defensive forwards and he's an awesome captain that is a big reason his team has won back to back Stanley cups. But Finland still has so many players to rely on and I could totally see Rantanen, Lehkonen or Granlund getting the most points at the Olympics.

Anyways, can't wait for it to start, let's goooooooo

Chemistry plays an important role in hockey. Canada, US and Sweden have the most prolific NHL players, but it seems that coaching and harnessing egos may be the deciding factor. I hope that Canada wins...they have the horses if they all pull together. The US and Sweden are just as talented...my picks:
Gold: Canada
Silver: US
Bronze: Sweden

Hope so. I think Rantanen can probably do some damage, he is pretty huge and can use the size as advantage if games get physical. Lehkonen did pretty bad in 4 Nations, he has been on fire lately so maybe can get something going on, but I don't wanna raise my hopes too high.

I am going big with betting. Making 45€+ on just the overall competition bets on top of doing per match betting for every match.

Test

I also have other bets.... and few high risk microbets that Germany or Finland will win the tourney, Celebrini being top scorer for Canada, Sam Reinhart too, also bet that Rantanen will do better than Necas at the tourney scoring wise.

The Canadians are starting with the first chance in my opinion, but there may be surprises, I can't wait to see this tournament.

Bets not going well for me at all. I wanted Canada and Czech Republic to be more even... Same with France.

Hope Germany will crush today and Latvia will be able to make at least draw versus USA. Probably should stop doing these silly bets 😅.... it just would be frustrating if Finland is the only favorite team that struggles to succeed

The first mini-sensation happened right at the start of the hockey tournament. Slovakia met with the last Olympic champion Finland. 4-1 is a sure victory, despite the difference in the number of shots on goal.

As of today, I see only two national teams capable of winning gold — Canada (70%) and the USA (30%).

Bad luck for Sweden and Czechia. Even if they win their match (as expected) they will go against USA and Canada.

We might be having a Canada vs USA in both men's and ladies hockey finals ,I'd say men's Canada is the champ and the USA might just get it done in the ladies final
