There are many cases of players accused of cheating or outright fixing entire matches to win sports bets against third parties. Even entire clubs are accused of fraud due to these practices, which are harmful to all sports. For me, sports betting is a bad thing for sports, where many compulsive gamblers hide due to the many options one now has, from winning or losing to the minute at which a player does something.

Where did you see this about several athletes being accused of cheating?
I follow some sports and haven't seen anything about it recently.

of course match fixing is an issue...not sure why when the players are compensated so well...

Don't try to find easy money here. Yes, there may be occasional upswings, but over the long run, you'll lose not just everything, but even more.I've seen many examples of people suffering from this condition. They're being hounded by debt collectors for overdue microloans, their wages are being withdrawn from their bank accounts by bailiffs, and banks will never give them loans again. They're constantly living in debt, in a hole they can't escape.Don't ruin your life, don't get carried away, and never place bets. There's no money here.

Betting may potentially corrupt the sport no doubt .
The problem now is the betting companies are actually often sponsor of events , so people will keep getting lured in .
Its clear they make good money .

Not sure it ever wasn't any issue....now it's just a bigger issue because sports betting has been made legal meaning more people have easy access to betting sites...hell now they even sponsor events and leagues.

Doesn't ruin any of my fun making small bets just to sweat the games a little, teams or sports I enjoy keeping up with. I rarely spend more than $5 on any given bet and normally it's only $2. Less then a med DD coffee at Tim Hortons. Personally I'm probably up a little overall when it comes to sports betting.

My advice is too treat sports betting the same way I treat poker. Keep stakes smallish, have discipline and stick to the sport you know best. And don't do it daily. Keep it a weekend thing. $2 on a parlay including your favorite team/players once or twice a week isn't going hurt anyone. The key is having the discipline to keep it that way.

As for killing sports.....for some people I'm sure it is. But fact is thou people still watch and spend money on wrestling even knowing it's fake and rigged. Sports will survive.

Here's a bet I'm currently enjoying sweating...

Sports betting isn't killing sports, but it is reshaping them — raising serious concerns about integrity, addiction, and commercialization. While it boosts fan engagement and revenue, it also introduces risks that many experts believe require stronger regulation.

Betting is no longer an integral part of modern sports. And I'm more than certain that there's a huge proportion of fixed and bribed matches, so yes, the influence of betting is seriously damaging sports as a whole.

Small bets make sports more interesting but because of money, sports are no longer pure and clean. Although I can not prove it, I am sure that all current sports have cheating and manipulation from bookmakers.

refs, coaches , players all can be influenced . with individual stats counting in so many kinds of wagers all you need is one player saying they are sick , ortired or got hurt at crunch time to change the whole outcome .
