World Cup: USA vs UK Do my boys have a shot?

Other than my kids playing tons of soccer due to its massive increase in popularity in recent years here in the US, I'm clueless as to the hierarchy of team standings around the world.

Can anybody clue me in or direct me to someplace online where I can get up to speed on the rankings of the teams?

the fifa world rankings are the only real ranking system that is used in international football. they're horribly flawed for reasons i won't bore you with but they generally provide a decent overview of the quality of teams.

So if our US boys, currently ranked 14th buy the below system, (Thanks D.M.) are able to squeeze out a victory this afternoon V's England, I assume twould be quite the upset?

The Elo rating system is imo better, still flawed like all these rating systems but I prefer it over Fifa.

on the other hand, basketball, baseball, football (as we understand it)
we still rule....... and we are getting better at soccer every 4 years.

Ill make a bet.... Ill play you HU for 10$ (I am a BIG underdog here) if we have more than a 1 goal loss. If we lose 1/0-2/1 etc (or tie or win lol), we play heads up and you fold every hand till the blinds are 100/200.....

You have a point with the other sports. I like baseball, but I think the US has won the world series every year, which is pretty impressive considering its a world event.
