Live $150 NLH tournament, 20 min levels, BB-Ante format
Last hand at this level 2.5K/5K, blinds will increase to 3K/6K next hand
12 players left at 2 tables, FT at 10 players
Paying 9 spots and players will probably vote to pay 10th $150, 9th pays $212, $5720 prize pool, $1716 for 1st

Hero is low stack with 28K, other 5 stacks => 60K, no shorter stacks on other table
Hero had lost 50K with KK<AA then felted a shorty with AK>AQ to get to 64K at 1.5K/3K level with 14 left then card dead
Last 2 orbits have all been bottom 5% hands or significant action before Hero acts

Hero is UTG with :qh4: :4h4:

Is this in our open shoving range at this point?

Too loose for UTG. ICM + position = fold and wait.

I don't know... I think it's close. I think I'm getting in here.
We fold, we're in BB, with BB ante format. After we post we have ~3bb. So if we don't play in the BB, we have 2.5bb in SB and who knows if we find a spot and we won't have fold equity either.

In an online MTT I would fold this, but I do think, the BB ante matter, because it essentially mean, this is the last hand, where you have any fold equity. And while far from a great hand at least its suited and have a Q blocker. And without knowing your specific player pool, maybe people fold to much on the bubble. So why not go for it and see, if you can get one through, which will allow you to play on for another round with fold equity.

I'm too much of a nit to get it in here knowing I could maybe still wait for a hand with an ace, others can make mistakes and bust.

The issue is, we only have 5,3BB, and the next hand we need to put in 2BB leaving us with just 3,3BB behind. If someone open, we will then need to pay 3,3 BB to win a pot of 10,1BB, which mean we are basically committed with any hand expect maybe pure junk. So we can either get it in now with Q4s and have fold equity, or we can get it in the very next hand with whatever, we are dealt, and have no fold equity. Unless of course we get a walk, but expecting that is very optimistic.

I know you're running on fumes but you have zero fold equity and this hand is well below average. High cards and pairs are what you're looking for. I think I'd fold and just hope for something better in the blinds. The only thing going for you UTG is that someone might try to isolate you and you go HU.
