Its ok to defend any suited hand to a min-raise especially with a large ante like this.

Flop
Complete whiff so the plan is to check-fold, but he check back.

Turn
You still dont have anything not even a gutshot draw, and for that reason my plan would still be to check-fold. Its nice to have at least some equity, when we bet the flop or turn.

River
As played I think, you should bluff the river. There are definitly hands, that will call a turn bet but fold on the river, and you obviously have zero showdown value with 8 high. You also have good removal, since you block the draw, which got there (87), but you block none of the busted draws like JT or hearts.

Yeah my exact thoughts - with the turn bet, i was hoping to fold maybe ace high or an underpair as I wasnt going to win the hand any other way

Sorry, but 8-2 — even suited — is just a fold here. You’re out of position and the hand is simply too weak to defend.
If you do decide to get involved, you have to be ready to represent strength on the flop (especially when a high card like a king appears). But checking and showing weakness after defending with a hand like this is the worst line you can take.

I am just not sure, a "one and done" stab on the turn is profitable, when you are drawing completely dead against a hand like the one, he had. So for me I prefer to either check-fold turn or continue with your bluff on the river.

An under pair should bet flop their range crushes this flop and your range is wide. We bet under pairs because they are vulnerable to free turn cards and we can get better to fold on the turn with a turn bet. Checks in this spot should be by weak made hands like this Q7 hand that cannot get better to fold with a flop and turn bet.

I think you get called if you bluff river too often--frequency of calls matters more here than will they/ won't they but maybe they fold second pair-that would be player pool decision.
