only thing i can figure is they've been burned by pocket aces so many times they made a commitment to not bet on them ever ever ever again.:hmmmm: ....just tryin to give em benefit of the doubt

You should normally raise pre-flop with Aces. In an early position it's OK to limp if you're fairly sure someone will raise behind you, so you can re-raise. Generally bet them aggressively so that people can't draw out to a hand stronger than a pair, as happened here.
