Big Blind Ante

Since it looks like that is the future. Have you played any games live or online with this ante? Are you pro or con and why? I have yet to find any games online that features it.

Played with it live, if you're gonna have an ante in live games then its the only way.

There's no real need for online to do it, as the computer can just put every players ante in each time. Live this just isn't practical as it would take too long to do, and would require chips of say a 9th or 10th of an ante to also be in play, just totally impractical.

In live play I think it performs a function, but is always harsh when it comes round to you. Haha

All of the tournaments that I play at Pops and River Casino have it.
The ones at Pops start after the first break and at River Casino they start at the beginning.

When you get deep in a tournament it can eat a stack up fast.
I assume that it is designed to speed up the games end and force action.

It's part of the game and the same for everyone. The best way to deal with it is to have a fat stack.

It’s been around a while now in live poker and it’s great because it really speeds the game up.

Me personally I try to to avoid games with the word "Ante" in it as it drives up the action and makes the game more bingo in my opinion.

Antes are great online because most people dont include them in their calculation of effective BBs and they dont understand their impact on ICM.

Poning becomes much more profitable.

Not sure about big blind antes but I've played micro cash games with antes on Pokerstars years ago. It obviously attracts more gambling pre flop, and is good for the game. Frustrating if card dead but standard of play was clearly worse, so if you have the patience it makes sense to get in there.

Any skill game that attracts more gamblers than bean counters must be good.
