Difference between MTT SnG's and tournament?

Whats the difference between MTT SnG's and tournaments? I know that MTT SnG's have set amount of people and starts when that limit is reached vs tournaments which start at a time. Is that the only difference? Is one preferred over the other? I only have $15 in my BR so I can do the 0.25c SnG MTT which gives me 56BI. Is this an OK amount? Obviously 100 BI is the reasonable amount but I'm not a fan of depositing a lot of money unless its a must. Also are there more regs that play SnG's maybe?

From what I've seen you will find more serious players in the micro SnGs than the tournaments. The former requires more skill while the latter requires more luck. Be sure to compare the duration and size of the blind levels. The Sat tourneys are the worst for having rapidly rising blinds that encourage a lot of erratic play.

If you want to improve your game I would usually recommend SnGs over tournaments.

I find that completely backwards (at least on pokerstars) SnGs typically have smaller starting stacks and antes from the first hand. they teach you to play with 25- 35 bb's any more the tables seem to balance the chips. Final 18 becomes a push and pray situation, because your close to the 10 BB lvl. Tourneys you can pick out fish early build your stack and play with a real plan.

SnGs do not have a scheduled start time. They start when all the spots for the tournament are occupied by registered players whether it be a single table tourney or a multi table SNGs. The other type of MTT you are referring to are the scheduled tourneys where they will have a minimum and maximum entrants but the tournament will start (if minimum entrants reached) at the time that is stated.

SnG .25 90players cents and $1 180 players really helped me alot with my game ... then i later started playing $1buyin on the side.. 2 weeks ago i was 3rd in a tournament and got around $240 ... cus we made a deal, talk about luck and building bankroll.. i was very fortunate, but i felt the $1 tournaments players were very lose and very weak, i dont even understand if most of them were just there to have fun or something ... %60 of them are not serious

SNG and MTT are 2 different worlds. The SNGs are filled with regs on every buyin level, they all play tight and stick to a certain strategy in early to mid. Usually you are shortstacked most of the sng and knowing the push/fold charts and being able to aplly them vs your oposition is what makes the difference. Sometimes if the tournament is faster you can get some normal to deep stack action on the final table but most of the time it's just a shove fest.

My understanding is, they are both tournaments. SnG is limited tables or players. It can range from 1 table to multi table. With this in mind SnG can also be called MTT. I have been trying 1 table SnG 10 cents buy in. Only pays 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Been lucky so far. Some SnG I have tried is 2 cents 990 players super turbo. It is just crazy blinds & ante goes op fast. Another one I have tried is 10 cents 360 players. I have only been lucky a couple times so far.

Obviously all tourneys that goes to thousands entries of players & SnG with more than 2 tables falls into MTT category. If I'm wrong please correct me

i like that sng's have only 6-antually any number but you do know the set amount of players when tournaments have a buy in perios where any amout that want to buy in can get in, i as in a tournament that had 19 player with an hour of late reg i was down to 3 playersleft and beoing the chip leader by over 6k and 3 players ended up buyin in and i got second behind the last person to buy in and i ws very heated i didnt play for like 3 weeks after that butthats the difference in my opinion
