Flush d on the flop

In what situations will you call all-in on the flop if you have a flush draw? Are you looking to pair or will your overcards be enough for you? Very often in these situations, I call all-in in the hope of doubling up, but more often I lose than win the hand.

You know of course that a flush draw on the flop gives you approximate 9 outs. that's a 36% chance of catching your flush....you won't get much better odds than that and as the math goes you should catch your flush almost 4 times out of ten....similiarly with an open ended straight draw on the flop your odds are 32% chance still pretty good ....

CDNMAN is right but I would add on a little here but having you look at the whole situation. First, is your flush draw to the nuts? Do you have reads on your opponent? What ranges do you think he/she is playing? Have you seen them make any big bluffs? Are your cards overcards to the board that if they pair, may win? There are other questions to ask yourself, but I think you get the point. The next thing is: Is the money right? With a flush draw on the flop, you have 9 outs twice to make your hand so you are looking a slightly better than hitting a third of the time, so is the pot 2:1 or better? If so, then you must call because you are getting the right pot odds and making that call everytime will be profitable over time.

I think the chances are great, of course, to win and lose if your steak covers your opponent, I think it's worth calling, but if not, I think the answer is obvious

I think you answered your own question really... but to answer if it's a small portion of my stack to call, or I'm priced in, short stacked and out soon..... but if I have a decent playable stack there is no reason to call from behind, shove behind is a different question lol!

As others have said, the quality of your flushdraw matter a lot, as do of course pot odds. Do you have one or two overcards to go with it, and how likely are they to be live? Do you have a gutshot or even OESD along with a flushdraw? Is the board paired? A particularly bad situation is drawing to a low flush multiway. Say you have 5c4c on KcQc9s, and two opponents have moved all-in for an overbet. Thats a spot, where you should probably fold, since you could easily be drawing completely dead against someone with a strong made hand and someone with a better flushdraw.

never brother! poker is not played like that, although I think it depends on the opponent if it is one that pays everything it could be you would have to analyze the hand well

You can also calculate what kind of fold equity there is, and if the EV of a push, taking into account this fold equity, comes out more than the EV of a call and further playing against the same opponent or opponents, then it is better to push. But the EV of a call is very difficult to calculate taking into account further game scenarios.
