If you change your playing style after a bad hand, you get confused... Despite the knowledge gained, studies do not tell you what to do at the beginning with the thoughts “I saw”, “I knew”, “I felt”! Therefore, if you consider that you did not make a mistake, continue the game in the same way, regardless of the outcome.

When you suffer a bad beat in a tournament, the most important thing is not to let frustration affect your game. The best way to control tilt is to remember that you made the right decision, even if the outcome was unfavorable, and focus on the process rather than luck. Taking a few seconds to breathe, relax, or even get up from the table helps you regain your composure, while other players prefer to immediately continue playing and focus on the next hand. The key is to maintain discipline and return with a clear mind to continue applying your strategy without letting emotions distract you.

What I do is the same as when I make a bad shot while shooting. I take a deep breath and say to myself "That hand/shot is gone. Concentrate on the next one."

It will take time but if you really study the game of poker you will realize bad beats are now so bad. This of the times you had pocket aces and everyone folded to your big blind. Were you happy? Probably not. Then you raise another time with aces get 3bet you 4 bet and they jam with KQo. The turn is a king and the river is as well and you lost 100BB. Bad beat but should you really be upset? No you should not as you 82% of the time get all the chips. You played correctly and just lost today but over all your printing money. Bad beats are not fun but if people want to donate chips to you and once in a while you lose you just need to accept they were typing to pay you and it was not your time.

Analyse lost hands. Focus on the process, not the result.

It is important to find out if you made a mistake or if you played properly and lost because of bad luck. If it is the 1st reason, by finding it out you improve. If it is a bad luck, you cannot do anything about it, you have to accept the variance. It happens and will happen.

How to Stop Tilting After Bad Beats
Bad beats are part of tournament life. You can play perfectly, get the money in good, and still lose. The problem isn’t the bad beat it’s what you do after it.
First, remind yourself: if you’re getting it in ahead, you’re winning in the long run. One hand doesn’t define your skill.
Second, break. Take 3 slow breaths before playing the next hand. This tiny reset can save your entire tournament.
Third, shift your focus from results to decisions. Ask: Did I play this hand correctly? If yes, then it’s a success even if you busted.
Finally, accept variance as the price you pay to be a winner. No variance, no profit.
Control your reaction, and you control your future in the game.

It's a difficult task, but not impossible, especially for people prone to tilt.

It all starts with understanding the triggers that set off your tilt.

Understanding the nature of poker can certainly help.

It also depends on your commitment to how you play poker... Studying and having healthy habits on and off the table can also help you in some way.

You also need volume of play... This is usually what makes good players excel and overcome variance.

Generally, focusing on things we control tends to have an immediate effect on tilt. Focusing the anger from eliminations and bad beats on studying and reviewing hands.

So, how are you doing?
