How many BBs do you have to Loosen your game?

Hi All,

This morning I was dealt very bad cards for entire early round of a 150ish person tournament which had 10 players per table, each started with 1,000 chips. About half way through my stack I was dealt an AJ - this was the best 2 cards I've had for the entire game! Things didn't work out well and now I'm writing this post.

What's the # of BB you have to loosen your game? I was under 10. Should I have kept folding and waiting for something better?

From what I've been reading it's around 10BB. Maybe this is a standard that I wasn't aware of. I apologize for bugging you regarding this, I just get very frustrated when I don't have any idea of what to do.

Only can decide on the style of play you will apply to the table and that style should be adaptable to the players around you. Perhaps it's just a dry spell of cards which happens to us all so don't just loosen up for the sake of it. Try and pick your spots If you feel uncomfortable with a looser way of playing.

I've played lots of live tournaments and Been card dead for 3/4 of the night and still made the final table just keep picking spots where possible.

Find the push-fold table where everything is described in detail in which stacks you need to play that way and with skip maps. Your allin right.

I start playing more aggressive around 25bb in MTTs, this sometimes changes depending on table position and state of the tournament.

it depends of structure of the game and level of players. in a normal tournament normally you should take agressivity under 20bb, in a turbo game with less blinds you should play agressive also but you need to take a bit of patience to choose your hands to play take in mind thatin turbo games in quite normal to find several guys under 10 blinds.

Hi I think what you did was good since they were early stages of a tournament, playing with a closed range of hands, but what you should have done in that hand AJ was even waiting to see the flop to see if it improved your hand or just followed you Bad streak, already in middle stages could have been bluffing with the hands that came out were bad or projects and play more aggressive than what you came playing. Once i hit 30 bb's i start to play more loose like playing queen ten off suite. If I have only 10 bb's i stick to premium hands such as AK AA AQ AJ suited JJ QQ etc.

early game dont go below 20bb , you dont want to be sitting with like 200-250 chips , cause even if you get a great hand and shove , its more then likely that more then 1 person will call you with an average hand or better just to bust you , my advice early game dont go below 20-25bb , mid game 15bb , late game 10 bb
