Would ever fold pocket kings preflop?

Absolutely. I have done it numerous times, especially in satties when I have secured my place ITM. I have even folded pockets aces in that spot. I am so unlucky on the felt that if it's not necessary to risk it, I just fold. Rather than complain about my misfortune on the felt, I try to use it to my advantage. I enter every tournament I play with the mindset of taking it down while playing as few hands as possible. I think that defies conventional wisdom but it keeps me out of spots that I really shouldn't be in anyway.

For cash games...

against 1 villain, never - the villain would need to be a super nit to shove and make me fold pre flop - sometimes an opponent will have AA but I think if you fold KK against the majority of players, you are losing more value than you are winning

against multiple opponents - maybe - it would depend again on how tight they are and if you suspect one of them could have AA - if a player shoves and a tight player calls, that would make me suspicious, but again, I would need a great read on against them to fold

I can't remember a time when I have fold KK

Never, it's beyond my powers. But experience shows that in a multipot all-in it is better to fold even AA preflop.

Yes if there are 21 players and 20 tickets (bubble) and I'm like 10th..... why risk ?

The original question was specifically for not in a bubble or satellite situation.

Generally, I think you should almost never fold Kings preflop. There are situations (especially live poker) where you know you are up against AA. I have folded KK once in my life preflop. It was in a live cash game against someone I knew to be really tight and passive. He four bet me all in. As I was folding, I said I'm never supposed to fold this hand. He said, "against me you are" and turned up his aces.

I guess the point is, everything is so situational in this game, that it's hard to say you should never do anything.

In a cashgame i would never fold KK, doesn't matter if i think he has AA, bad luck.

In tournament, when ITM, and ladders are big and there are a lot of smaller stacks to bust, i might fold KK.

Unfortunately, I can't do that. Lost AA many times
And don't need to. Lose once to AA, then win twice with QQ and AK, maybe even JJ

I quit KK once! But then he regretted it. I folded QQ once, but that was already the last part of the tournament, and I already knew roughly how my opponent plays. I then saved a lot of effort, time and chips, since he had KK

i'd fold any hand if the situation calls for it ;) but with pocket kings i'd certainly cry a little on the inside... lol.

I nearly did in a live cash game once. But I didn't.. And yep, I was right. The other guy had AA and I doubled him up!

I don’t know if it’s possible to throw out KK because the opponent can have anything. But I think in a ball of expensive games such an action is quite possible.

At the limits I play, I would never give up. Unless I have information on how a specific player plays a pocket Aces, for that I would have to have hundreds of hands played against that specific player. Also, I would only fold in case of an all-in preflop.

If we're playing $1/2 live and its a nitty player like someone that doesn't play hands or for example sits for like an hour and plays like 1 hand and all of a sudden they tell the dealer all in for $300 or so then I'll let them take down the little $3 blinds or whatever little action that's in the pot.

Other than than I'm never ever, ever folding kings at a cash table preflop.

It all depends ICM purposes in tournaments. In cash probably never it will be a hard decision to lay down KK.

Well, I respect all points of view. But I have a question:

If we're going to fold hands like AA and KK, where do we want to go in poker? Fold KK and then go all-in with TJ? I've seen them done. I already did too.
Of course, the decision is not so easy and there are a number of factors that we must consider before going or calling all-in with these hands, but it's one thing to play tight, it's another to play without courage. And make no mistake, it takes courage to play poker.
There are two ways to lose yourself at Poker:
Making the right move and having a lot of bad luck.
Making the wrong move.

I'd rather lose knowing I made the right move than losing because I made a shitty move.

Nope! I don't think that I have came across a situation that I have folded KK preflop. If I were faced with being the 'bubble' I think I would consider folding KK but it would be hard.

Poker is a complex game and KK is not the strongest hand in that game. I threw them several times before I saw the flop, it all depends on the situation at the table and the period in which the tournament is located.
The only hand I never gave up before the flop were AA hand rockets or minarets.

Sure when the situation fits I fold them Kingaroos :D
Wouldnt wana risk whole stack on low blinds without AA
Meaning if somebody jams and I sharkscoped him and is not an obvious bad player just fold.

Hello, any card can be thrown out, so it all depends on the specific situation, specific time and place[emoji3]
