Not really. Even in tournaments shortly before the prize money I would not fold KK or AA. If you can double you can win more prize money. The ICM takes this into account. Therefore a call with pocket kings is likely plus monetary expected value. The only situation in which I would fold pocket KK or AA preflop is in a tournament in which all players get the same prize money or the same tournament ticket and I have a midstack and are only a few places away from the prize money. Then I would fold all hands so that I would be sure to get into the prize money.

Folding KK preflop is tough. In a Cash game I probably never would fold Kings, unless you have a very good read. In a tournament it depends on several factors. Stack size, position, are you in the money or not. But anyway, folding KK would be sick.

I guess it depends on how wild the betting is going. All somebody sitting on and ACE and a junk card has to do is hit one more ace in the coming cards and I am toast.

If I were in a cash game I typically would never fold KK preflop if I haven't been at the table very long. However in some cases folding and not risking 100 BB or so on a gamble is the better play. But again it all depends on the other players around you, how their playing, your position etc.

In cash games never; in tournaments - only when I have big stack vs bigger stack in a ticket tourney and I'm essentially guaranteed a ticket if I fold - for instance 50 places pay; 99 players left, I have second biggest stack by a large margin.

This is where those fux who are against online poker and poker in general get off because they call this gambling, at this point. In a sense they're correct. To call all-in to a pre-flop bet w/KK knowing there's a hand that can beat you at this moment is definitely gambling. But to know this in the first place is skill.
Sorry to interject a little pro-online-poker rhetoric. I like to plant seeds of common sense whenever I can, especially on this subject.
But to answer the question YES... Yes I will call off my stack to an all-in shove, which usually indicates it's a hand other than AA, usually AK or an AQ suited, maybe even a middle pair like 8's or 7's. In my experience folx usually shove in a cash game to force others out to scoop the existing pot to avoid rake. Remember, if there's no flop there's no drop. Just in case there are players out there who do not know that if you win a pot pre-flop the house does not get it's rake; it's essentially tax free. So just be leery of shovers in cash games, imo.

if you play in a satellite and you have a passed stack and all in preflop flies at you from the same stack, then KK is easily folded, this also applies to some situations on the bubble if hitting ITM is important for you + there are moments when before you 3- 4 players went all-in, here you can also consider folding, in a cash game, of course, KK is much more difficult to throw

I almost folded pocket kings preflop yesterday in the BetOnline platinum freeroll.

Of course we were on the bubble, 16 players left and 15 get paid. If someone who had a bigger stack than me shoved, I would have folded preflop because there were many players who had smaller stacks than me and I didn't want to make such a huge error.

Thankfully, none of the big stacks shoved, and I was able to call the shove of a very short-stacked player who pushed all in from the button, I was in the small blind and snap called. He had J7o, there was a jack on the flop and the turn was a 7, so I lost the hand. LOL

This proves that KK is not a monster, it is a very good hand of course, but it is very easy to lose a hand such as KK even when our opponent is playing a much weaker hand... and this is why we can (and should) sometimes fold it preflop. But only when we are in this exact situation!! You must be on the money bubble, and there must be smaller stacks in the tournament. In this case, just fold them and wait until the bubble breaks. Once you are into the money, you should never ever fold KK preflop!! But before the money bubble, it is sometimes okay to fold them.

I played a cash game at my local casino about 7 weeks ago, i had KK in the cut off, pot was raised by BB and a guy in mid position, i called as i wanted to target the maniac in the BB as i wanted max value and knew i could get mid position to fold, flop came Asp, Ah, 10sp - i had a good handle on both players ranges as they both played any ace with rags, board was checked round, turn comes 10h, pot control was in my mind at this point - board checks again and 2cl comes on river. Board checks round for a final time and BB shows Acl/7cl and MP shows Ad/4d.
I was amazed that neither player bet for value on turn/river and felt i had got away cheaply there.
