When you’re playing in a casino, do you like to have a drink as part of the experience, or do you prefer to stay completely clear-headed knowing that real money is on the line?

For some people, a beer or glass of wine is just part of the social side of gambling — it helps them relax, chat with other players, and enjoy the atmosphere. For others, even a small amount of alcohol feels like a leak in discipline: slower thinking, looser decisions, and less awareness of what’s really happening at the table.

There’s also a big difference between what you’re playing. A casual session on slots or roulette might feel very different from a long poker session where focus, memory, and emotional control matter a lot. Some players swear by coffee or tea to stay sharp, while others stick to soft drinks to avoid any mental edge slipping away.

Personally, I’m curious where people land on this spectrum — social enjoyment vs. pure optimisation.

I tried to play drunken poker the other night, and I have to say it didn't go so well. At first, everything felt under control, but pretty quickly I noticed that my decisions started to be based more on gut feeling than reason. Somehow "It will still turn out" mentality took over.

The experience itself was educational: poker requires concentration, and when there is none, the game essentially becomes a game of chance. Learned my lesson and was just playing with some tickets I got from freerolls, so no losses. :)

But one beer or a glass of wine is still ok and improves the game. 🍷

Too much drink and Poker don't mix that well - I relearn that every Saturday:ROFLMAO:

I tend to only go to Casino to socialise and play house games (rarely live poker) so a drink is all part of the 'ritual' for me and as I'm relying on luck rather than skill it's win-win (or should that be lose-lose?:D)

If you're referring to poker, it's not a good idea to combine it with alcohol. In my case, I try to drink only water during tournaments.

And if we go to a casino, it wouldn't be bad, as long as you keep track of your expenses. It's not a good idea to get drunk knowing that you're playing with money and that you might not realize what you're doing and end up spending more than you should.

I only play poker at the actual casino, so I don't tend to drink, as I'll often be driving. I maybe have a beer, but most often drink sparkling water, as I'm not a big fan of sodas in general!

An occasional hot toddy with a stimulant while playing can loosen you up abit, and maybe even improves performance. This is only for people with self control.

If I am playing slots, there is always a drink with me. I am taking advantage of any free drinks and food. I slow it down if I am playing blackjack. I have to pay more attention.

Most often I drink beer or cocktails. Sometimes coffee, if I'm driving. But I always try to keep the situation under control, because I've lost too much money several times when drunk.

I like drinking cola or a juice , nothing else , cause I want to have control over my game . Alcohol or coffee have a bad effect on me so I try to avoid them as much as possible .

When I was younger I drink while playing. Also when I stream I drink and play sometimes. I think playing sober is the best decision which you can do. ATM going on 100 days soberchallenge. 85 days to go guys.
