So if he flat calls and we should highly suspect that he is on the flush draw because chasing a straight draw when others are on a flush draw would be a little stupid. River comes a 2h. Now, if villain is smart and can pick up on our hand, he knows the only way he can win at this point is to bet, I would rather value bet here with the best hand from the BB, because as passively as he's played he's probably not going to bet into us. So here we can go 2/3rd which will never get called. Or we can attempt another probe sized bet on the river just to try to squeeze a litte more juice out of him or at this point villain my believe that we ourselves we're on the flush draw, and may try to shove into us, this is where this works great to get info on villain and induce a bluff with a filled up hand. Villain see's the 1/3 pot sized bet, waits requests time, shoves his remaining 60BB stack in there. This is exactly what we we're hoping for here snap call due to the way the hand played out. Here we were able to use a probe bet to gain info and it was enough to get 1 opponent out of the way post-flop, a weak call on the flop from player in position, with a flush and potential straight draw that was never completed. Example Two: (Probe Bet With Super-Aggressive Player) Here we are again in the BB with a small pocket pair. 4 limps from EP and MP, BTN raises 3xBB, we decide to call with 6s 7s, because BTN raises every time + all the dead money from limpers gives us decent pot odds. all limpers fold so now, we're in a somewhat decent spot, we don't really know where we are in the hand because button is so aggressive. Think in the range of 45/30/5. There's a lot of air in his range. We flop a straight and flush draw heads up against the BTN. 5s 8h As. But if you we're just looking for some info Villian gave it to you, and it didn't cost you more than 3BB's you can either get away from it, or call due to there being 15 outs for you, 21 if villian is shoving with two high non spades.
