I started with this number for a couple of reasons. 1. It happened to be 200 x the lowest BB they had 2. It seemed like an amount you could win from a freeroll which is why people would start with that low of a number. I could have gone lower but it would have put my BR at more of a risk Q: How many years have you been playing poker for? What kind of skill level do you have? A: I have been playing poker for about a year off and on. I am not a pro by any standard or measure. As indicated in some of my posts I am a 21 year old college student and that has always been my first priority. I don't believe I am at a skill level that some can't attain without some reading, experience and some math skills. Q: Do you plan to continue if you don't make it in the time frame? A: Absolutely, I set a time frame for myself to challenge myself and to make the crowds go ooo and aahhh not to say "hey two months then quit". I also fully intend to make the donations I indicated if my time frame is decently close to the time frame indicated. Q: What about the comparisons to Chris Ferguson? A: As I indicated before I have several advantages over C. Ferg in this challenge. 1. He started with 0$ and I started with 8$ 2. He took 9 months to stabilize that 0$ at 6.50$ 3. I have significantly more time to play then him due to pro obligations 4. I am playing with a more liberal bankroll plan then C. Ferg which allows me to move up and down more quickly. [B]Poker Lesson of the Day - Liberal vs. Conservative Bankroll Styles[/B] I have had many players now say they will try something similar in trying to make a little bit of money into a lot. If they are serious and have the time I would suggest they take a look and use their own bankroll plan. The bankroll plan I am using is on the very liberal side of the spectrum. It allows me to move up quickly and thus make it in the allotted time frame. This isn't to say my plan isn't sound because the chances of going broke with this bankroll plan is still almost non-existent if you are a good player and you can contain your emotions. But the truth of the matter is there are better bankroll plans out there and they are all far more conservative then mine. There are several advantages to having a conservative bankroll vs. a liberal one and the two main ones are as follows. 1. Having a larger bankroll allows you to think more about the poker then the money since you can play longer without having to move up or down or even worrying about that. 2. Having a larger bankroll allows you to stay at each level for a longer amount of time and thus SEEP in a lot more poker wisdom from each level and apply it to your game. There are some other advantages such as you can handle the variance of multi-tabling and other games such as Omaha. But these two main ones are big advantages over the liberal bankroll style I have chosen and I wouldn't trade them in if given the chance.
