How do these work?

Is it as simple as building them up then cashing them in when you have enough?

ie exchange 500 for $50 or 2500 for $250?

Pretty much. I cashed in a little over 7,000 points recently for $50 (cash for points is available at gold level and above). You can also use them to buy into tournaments or for merchandise.

You only got $50 for 7000 points?

Read the table you should have got $250 for 2500 points
