Poker is a combination of luck and skill. The real question is what percentage is luck and what percentage is skill. Is it 5% luck 25% luck 50% luck. No one will agree on that.

How many games are there that actually rely on 100% luck? I'm not aware of many unless you are in a room filled with slot machines. People who know little of poker likely see the 'luck' value being the most significant factor of a winning poker hand, poker game or poker player. Those who are steadfast in their mindset that poker is all luck, simply do not play the game or know very little about the game.

By the way, send me a little luck for my next game, would ya?!

You can have 99% chance to win the pot, but you still needs lucky to win. Thats my opinion.

There is always an element of Luck involved, but in general Poker is a strategic game, a game of skill, the biggest part of that skill is being the last man standing, and ultimately winning the game, just as in a game of Chess!
You could say there is no luck involved in playing Chess, but if your opponent slips up and makes one mistake and lets you take advantage over him then it's possible to push him around the board and snap up all his pieces. That is where your Luck comes from!
In Poker, the skill in acquiring a bigger chip stack so you can begin to push others around, can make a big difference in the game, but there is always a chance that you may slip up and let your opponent take the lead, Luck maybe good or bad when playing a game of chance!

You have to know how to play poker, study, read, practice, but obviously, it is also a game of luck.

Indeed it is not TOTALLY a luck game, but believe me when I can 100% confirm that you do need luck although you are very skilled.
You've just got to win your all-ins to become a champ.
And also believe me when i say that you also need some pretty good skills to stay on top.

In my opinion, 80-88% depends on your level of play. And 12 percent is luck. well, many rich people are attracted to offline poker that you can play with many famous players at the same table

I think poker is of course a game of strategy and be skilled is very important. But luck is part of the game as well. The question is which part : I would say about 35% in MTTs where the variance is very high and you need a little bit luck to get to the victory. In cash game or SNG the part of luck is less important.
And of course in the long run, luck (good or bad) does not make the difference, skills are the key.

Poker is a game skill, but luck helps, wish i had some.
