Thailand sounds like fun. It sounds to me as if you were living in the wrong part of Canada. Vancouver although a beautiful city (as far as cities go), crappy weather in winter months, mild summer climate & is EXPENSIVE! I live in the Interior of B.C., (West Kootenays). Our winter months are fairly mild (as far as Canada is concerned) with temps. mostly hovering around -2 to 7C (30F to 45F) for the most part but we do get a fair bit of snow (which is great here because I am less than 10miles from one of the best ski areas in NorthAmerica). Summer months it gets very hot, with LOTS of lakes to enjoy the weather. (it is not uncommon for temps to stay at or above 100F here for two weeks straight). Biggest difference between here & the big city though >>> it is VERY CHEAP to live here (ie. 1bdrm. apt., heat incl. $400/mth.) and everything is so centrally located, you really don't even need a vehicle. (at least a visiting poker player wouldn't find it necessary). I'm surprised US players haven't discovered this gem. Downside for younger poker players here > nightlife SUCKS (is pretty much non-existent unless they like watching hockey games, lol). Would be a cheap place to grind though.... especially for those interested in skiing at one of the best resorts around (Red Mtn.).
