Just wondering if anybody had ever joined the PPA (Poker Players Alliance)? I am considering it (it's only $15), but I'm not sure what you get out of it. If there are any current members, I'd like to hear your thoughts on it. I am a recreational player, mostly online but the occasional live tourney when I can get to a casino. I am not a professional player.

I joined for a second year, and like that they help promote the skill aspect of poker in state and federal courts. Sometimes it works; sometimes not, but it gets the media's attention (and hopefully the public's) when a judge makes a favorable ruling for poker.

On the political front, the PPA promotes the importance of consumer protection and potential tax revenue from poker.

$15 seems like a small price to pay for representation at the state and federal levels. You can check out what they're doing on the resources tab of the PPA site.

I've been a member for several years now. I have a stack of PPA chip protectors, t-shirts, patches, and I think a hat, but that's not why I joined.

You get a free t-shirt? Could I transfer the membership fee from my Bovada or Carbon account? Now that would be awesome.

Yeah, get to choose a gift when you join. At least you used to. I have 5 chip protectors (just a poker chip with the PPA logo) sitting here on my desk. I'd have to check the closet but I know I have at least 3 t-shirts, maybe more. One year they double-shipped my gifts. :)

I remember they had a special freeroll on Full Tilt for people who joined the PPA from there. That is how I joined
