I agree with Emily now would a good time to get into poker as a hobby regardless what a few might say the games and MTT's the micro/low stakes aren't impossible to beat. What I'd work on first though is my patience, bankroll management and mental toughness/tilt control. I'd also start by learning a Tight Aggressive style(TAG) and build my game out from there to exploit your player pool as you get experience and stats/history on them. As where and what to study. With the sheer amount of free poker knowledge and info online pretty much everywhere(including these very forums) I wouldn't start by spending money on any book or course. I would get HUD though. I prefer Poker Tracker 4(just google it). Even if the site you end up playing at doesn't allow HUD's during live online play it's still a good investment that will pay for itself in the long run. As it will help you study, track all your stats/opponents stats and help track how much you win/lose. If the site you play at doesn't allow HUD's then NEVER have the HUD running with the site open.
