Do you enjoy playing poker? Can you honestly say that you control it and it doesn't control you? And you know what this means: Living within your bankroll, not avoiding doing other things so that you can play (like eating, sleeping, showering, going to/looking for work), not getting on tilt so bad that you're angry for 3 days at the world.

If you answer yes to both of these questions, then there is nothing to be ashamed of. I realize the pressure of the speed dating/finding a girlfriend thing, but you want to find a person who accepts you for who you are and supports you doing what you enjoy. Otherwise you have to give up something you enjoy or you have to hide something from someone you're dating. Neither option very good. Don't get me wrong. All relationships are about compromises. So maybe you can't play for 5 hours every night instead of spending time with her. Like Fletch said, you have to make time for the people that are important in your life. But don't ever be ashamed or try to hide the things that make you, you.
