Lots of folks will three-barrel with nothing -- I've certainly done it from time to time. But bluffing is an art that has to be done *just enough*. If you're never getting caught bluffing, you're not bluffing enough! But if you're always getting caught, it's probably time to tighten up. The great thing about getting caught is that people know a bluff is in your toolkit. It is essential. It means that sometimes you can catch a monster and people second-guess whether you're bluffing or not, sometimes calling you down where they would have otherwise folded to a "Nit". But there is a difference between a bold play and stupidity. Sometimes its hard to tell until you're closing down the computer for the night after reviewing some of your hands. If you never bluff, you will become labelled as a straightforward player or a nit. You can still make it to the cash occassionally with this strategy, but it's hard to win playing straight up honest poker. You leave too many chips no the table for someone else with an inferior hand to collect. Bluffs need to be done correctly though. It needs to form part of your story. You're not going to bluff your villain off every flop turn or river. But if you bet the draws on the board and then make a big bet when they ostensibly "hit", it can be quite intimidating for the opponent. It looks like you bet a draw and hit it. Easy fold for your friendly neighbourhood villain. Similarly, if the story makes no sense. (e.g. betting a draw that DOESNT hit and then playing like it does), then bluff catchers can stand firm. Remember though -- you cannot bluff a fish/call station. They'll often call you down with Ace high or a pair of two'sno matter how hard you barrel through them. So get bluffing today! Cheers, ObbleeXY
