Which Book SHould I Get?

Im about to go on holiday with my mates in a weeks time, im not happy that i wont be able to play any poker at all

however i feel this is a good week to be able to read about it and study about the game.

I play mainly 2.75/5.50 SNG and the occassional MTT! which book do you think would be best to read for me and why ?

IF you play MTT, you have to go and pick up Gus Hansen : Every Hand Revealed. It's a great new style of playing MTT. He discusses every hand he played when he won the Aussie.

In my opinion, it's like the new Supersystem book of our age.
Also, pick up the Harrington books, but that's a given =)

little green book phil gordon-i liked wpt books by eric lindgren and 1 by antonio esfra yadayada i just got the poker mindset from ps been gr8 don't get kill phil i didnt like there stradegy at all

yeah harrington on holdem is a great tournament strategy book, i like it alot. don't know about good books for cash games.

if you play a lot of SNG's then colin moshman's Sit n Go Stategy is a great book.

Go for Gordon's Little Green Book if you're only getting 1.

Dear god do not follow this advice. While I love gus, you need to play live for this to be effective. It is VERY read dependent. And even Gus plays tighter than this nowadays, if you listen to some of the pro chatter on the tv tournies. It is a good book none the less.

The HoH books are good for a beginner for tighter play. I'd say after the HoH series, Kill Everyone is a MUST read.

It doesn't need to be live gameplay for this book to help you out on your gameplay. Playing by the book, which tells you to play TAG, doesn't give any variety into the game making you very easy to read, especially if you're a beginner. Gus Hansen's new style is basicly playing Small-Ball poker. Sure, if you're interested in the basic TAG strategy, go pick up the Harrington books for your TAG needs, but if you want to give yourself a little edge, implementing Small-Ball with your basic TAG, in my experience, will really help out with your MTT play.

If you are going for a holiday I would say the Phil Gordon Green Book is good. It is not heavy reading but still gives excellent guidance. Also McManus's Positively 5th Street is not an instructional but good reading. For something more for the studious try Sklansky's No Limit HoldEm book or Lee Jones's for Low limit Hold Em.

Iv have just gone for Colin Moshmans SNG and Harrington on cash Vol 1 because im thinking of playing some more cash games when i return!!
