I can see why the guy did it. It is pertaining to something that happened back 25 years ago, and has been haunting him ever since. His AA got busted with a set of Jacks. Now every time he sees AA he relives that horrible beat and since he was 1 away from the money, he decided to wait it out until one more person broke, and then charge ahead at full speed. To me that is not cowardice, that is strategy.

Some say go for first or go home broke. Alot on here say to make moves even if you miss the bubble, but 9 times out of 10 when I do this I lose my chance at the bubble. I find if I change my strategy up to (I call it Playing for third) make the bubble, then I can change gears and go hardcore for the win. Otherwise, I just wasted all that time and money and have nothing to show for it.

I know other people are also playing for third, and that you are supposed to get aggressive and take pots, but it never seems to work that way for me. All that happens is I try to steal and get raised, then I call, and I have lost 1/4 of my stack on one hand. Meanwhile, the guy having 400 chips left keeps gaining on me. And I am not folding to them, they just are luckily catching cards on the river. This is the hardest part of the game for me. I guess I need to read Harrington's other two volumes to learn what to do next.
