I made a few small cashes so that I could play the super micro stakes SnG's Eventually I finished 2nd in a CC $1000 freeroll for more than $200 and I was able to say a really had a playable bankroll.

Note that most people will give you an answer in weeks or months, but this can be very misleading. More importantly, how much do they play. Playing 1 tournament a week for an average of two hours and min-cashing once every one-two weeks will take more than 2 years to build a $100 bankroll. Playing 12-16 hours a day every day will mean playing the same amount of poker in less than two weeks. For me, it took around 100 tournaments and largely thanks to that one big cash (which is what tournament poker is really all about).
