As far as the poker bankroll goes, I would put aside money every month then build up an account to play $1/2 live when I decided to try it for a living. And I knew how much I needed because I knew the type of players, how much I won/lost going on the weekends and week nights here and here for like over a year and knew my hourly rate so I had a clue of expenses like travel and how time I actually committing which a lot folks don't think about. A lot of folks only think about what its costing out of their pocket but EVERYTHING has an opportunity cost, lol. Something else they should be thinking about I guess. All I had to do was save up and add "poker budget money" to my list of monthly expenses back then and save up and I kept adding to the poker fund even when I was winning so when I was ready to move up to a higher level I would have the money ready.
