How can it make sense that the cheapest way to buy a book in the UK is to buy it from someone that is in the US, and is going to use UPS or a similar courier to deliver it to you in the UK?

Anyway, what I really started this thread to discuss was - do any of you know places where these books can be obtained at very good prices, please, or is Amazon generally accepted to be the cheapest?

I don't mind it being second-hand, but I'm not going to go rummaging through endless car boot sales or household goods auctions trying to find it... :D
