Calling For the Clock(WSOP)

How do you feel about the guy who called for the clock on last night's wsop episode? It seems to me that Carlos Mortensen was taking a long time to make a decision. They asked players what they thought in general about calling for the clock, Daniel Negraneu said 3 minutes is a fair amount of time, seems reasonable to me, what you think?

I like the rule, but you gotta use good judgment and good etiquette when calling for it. I would compare it to the timer online. But in having a timer, people use it to stall when on the bubble in a tourny. Again, each person is allowed to use their allotted time, its not against the rules but should be used with good judgment and etiquette. Especially if its going to be on national TV

Calling clock is one of those very delicate situations. There are times where it is going to be warranted but you have to feel out the situation properly first. Calling it too early or in the wrong spot just makes you come across as a douchebag to others at the table.

I thought in this case Mortensen was taking a long time and the other guy was short stacked and was looking to play before the end of the day. I'm guessing playing online will make me less patient (in the long run) playing live because it's super fast...lol

Why not just hold a sign up that says hey I am bluffing with a weak hand.Seems like a dumb move to me.

I dont think i would ever call the clock on someone during a cash game when the blinds are set, but in a tournament, where the blinds go up regularly I think 2 minutes is plenty of time.

I think of 2-3 min is enough ..

rules are rules .However sometimes there are a few things a player has to calculate...number of outs/% chance of winning the hand/how many players left in the tournament/is the villain bluffing/how many chips you will be left with if you call and lose...etc etc.
A reasonable time should be allowed before calling time if the player has taken unnecessarily long to act.
I have never called time on a player and never had time called on me.

I think 2-3 minutes is a reasonable amount of time, but that guy called clock on Daniel in less than 30 seconds lol. Basically declared the weakness of his hand.

It's funny...a lot of the professional poker players complain about other players that take way too much time to make decisions, when the funny thing is it is in the players' power to control how long their opponents can take for decisions (ie, calling the clock on someone), but very few people do it because it is considered bad etiquette.

So from that point of view, what more are the players asking for? A forced shot clock, where the tournament director never lets a person make a decision longer than, say, 4 minutes? Maybe. I think the biggest thing that needs to change is the nature of "calling the clock". If it can get through to the poker community that calling the clock on someone isn't considered bad etiquette, then I would think a lot more people would be comfortable calling the clock on someone who is taking 4 minutes or more to make a decision.

They don't call for the clock enough I think, 2-3 minutes is long enough to decide on folding or calling.

a that point of the tournament 3 minutes is enought. when you are at the final table i think anyone call time... for a 10 minute hand, but 20 minute is a SF move!
