Tilt is the result of prior actions that are expressed from within all people. A better way to understand tilt is to ask questions. What causes tilt? What emotions are triggers for tilt? Does each person tilt universally or is tilt unique to each person? A post, paper can be written based on the results from actions of tilt that are recognizable because of emotion, but is this going to be helpful to deal with issues from tilting specifically? I had to write many entries in my journal about tilt, mostly expressing my most private thoughts about tilt. Anger, shame, being demoralized by results, and loss of motivation as some examples that go beyond the results. I still have to go and read where I came from to start to understand that most of my tilt stems from childhood and competition to win because of the culture of sports. My brother is 5 years older and was better than me at all games. Chess, pool, monopoly; when not if I lost, clearing the chessboard, mixing up the pool balls, throwing the monopoly board. If I did not win no one is going to beat me. I took many beatings from my brother because of my tilt. Poker tilt from emotional outbursts comes from these triggers of past experiences. I have to chat just to feel better because of the act of writing and trying to express my emotions in a more positive manner even though, if you asked some of my opponents I might still come across as a person on tilt. Philosophy, existentialism, Soren Kierkegaard talks about our existence, the duty to the "self", honesty, this also has helped me to understand emotions and to embrace all of who we are. This helped my game to embrace emotion, to help with understanding why tilt happens and to master any part of tilt, poker is always a moving target. Glad to have met you and I follow your posts about your latest journey to Vegas along with others here. Hope all is going well and success in all endeavors.
