From an admittedly quick look it would seem that the only way to get to the Blog from within CC is via this post. Any plans to add it to the navigation, 'Quick Links' for example?

yeah pretty cool to have blogs set up now but it would be nice to see a blog section on the main page some time soon for easy access

It is definitely possible (I did it myself). Just be patient and disciplined and things will start rolling soon enough.
