I know there is alot of controversy, heavy and light hearted, about womens' only poker. My perspective has no political concept behind it. It's a matter of enjoying playing with people of some sort of common aspect. The novelty of enjoying, say a tournament for people who also play backgammon or people who hearken from a certain state of the US or a particular country. Maybe even like tournaments for CC players only.

That's what draws me to womens' only tournaments and the chat last night had me amused to the extent that I couldn't concentrate on my play.

"Eating chocolate, watching poker on tv and playing poker online. How great is that?

Pretty great! The other night, I gave myself a facial, a manicure and placed in the money, as well.

Wow, that's impressive!

For my purposes, it's that, finally, my husband has to do the dishes because I consider this work, so what beats that?"

Later...

"I'm sorry I yelled at you. I've had bad beats all night.

That's ok.

No, really, I'm sorry. I was out of line.

That's ok. I let myself mouth off some of the time, too.

(Observer) No. You? I can't imagine that. You're a classy lady.)

Thank you. But you're a classy lady, too.

Oh, thank you.

Oh, you're welcome. And, thanks."

All paraphrased, I didn't save the chat. Granted, there was much more conversation about poker play itself but I've never heard women chat this way at mixed tables.

I loved it.

No? Maybe it's just me. I've never played in any kind of private tournament so perhaps this type of solicitous chatter is more commonplace in mixed tournaments than I know. From men and women.

As for the facial, manicure, chocolate comments, I've never heard anything like that from men at the poker table but, hey, if it happens, that's cool. :)

Yes, it was. We were never at the same table but I saw that you were registered. How'd you do?

Not so well last night. I think I was still tilted from the previous 2 nights when I lost to bad beats so close to extra points and money - like with AA and stuff like that lol.

Oh, that's too bad. I read that you had placed near the top...second, maybe?...several nights ago.

Last night was only the second night for me. I made it close to the bubble last night but, basically, blinded out. I'm serious that I was distracted by the chat. I wasn't involved in the conversation but I was mesmerized and just couldn't make myself turn it off. That $5 last night was pure social value. I'll earn nothing else if I don't close the chat window.
