Chip Drunk (Tilt)

Does anyone else get chip drunk if so how do you get past it

If your opponent is drunk, then this is just a big advantage for you. If you are patient, then you will have a good chance and will be able to double your stack.

Do you mean that you have a lot of chips and it begins affecting your play, like entering every pot?

If so then I suggest verbalizing your thought process and talking each decision out loud. Even simple ones like: "I have king-five suited under the gun which is too weak to play so I'm going to fold."

Try to stay with the non-alcoholic chips.

If the opponent is drunk, do not look for meaning in his game, play according to your cards and situations at the table.Sooner or later, his ardor will subside and he will be amazed.

yes, i do ;-) I try to forget how much I have. That i snot working well though ...

I don't drink alcohol, only juice, soda and water, so I don't know how to answer, but I've heard of a friend who ended up sleeping or passing out on top of the keyboard

I pretend that however much i just profited is now new starting chipstack size.

Or I cash out and hop on to a different table with the minimum buyin... HIT N RUN BABY...hit.and....RUN.

Just retain the ability to change gears. if you get to the point of being the overlarge stack at the table and are on a heater, run with it. No need to engage in large pots (unless your junk flops the nuts of course!), but if you can enter cheaply, speculate away as long as it's early and the blinds are low. Don't start calling large bets to chase just because your 9,4 was suited or you hit top pair and the raiser pre is pushing hard. Once you stop spiking flops with garbage (as that's what any "speculative" hand really is) stop playing them and switch gears back to your normal game.

Yes, I've witnessed many players go on tilt and try to overpower the table with ridiculous hands after taking a big chip lead. One time in particular, I remember when I lost to pocket 8s with pocket As. He became the chip leader, and I became critically short stacked, something like 6,000 chips to 800. Then the guy went nuts and tried to overpower the table with anything and everything. I managed to double up against him a few times then took him out of the game with my own pocket 8s no less.
