Think of this as your apprenticeship, use good BR management so you do not go broke (very important). Study the basics and get good at them, create a poker plan how many hours will you play and when will you move up if you do well and for how long etc. Once you have learnt the basics trial some software maybe and training sites if you wish.

Most importantly, be realistic. You are not going to be making a lot of money fast, you will be grinding alot. Find something you enjoy and/or are good at and grind it. Work to support your poker until your poker works to support you. Any upcoming decent player you read there threads and realise they are studying something or going to work at a decent job.

Also track your profit and loss so you know where you are at.

I dont mind in the context that its best to approach it seriously bang some cash on and train like the london to manchester train when you take poker up rather than spend you life making pennies nitting it up..
