SO! This month I've had several pretty big wins and have developed a theory based on far too little actual data. However, the data suggests so clearly that there is substance to my theory, that I can't or would rather not invest too much more trying to prove or disprove the theory. Rather I will predominantly flow with these early unsubstantiated results and see if at least one side of the theory is more valid. The theory is that I personally tend to play better later in the day than I would prefer to play. I would prefer to play during daylight hours. I am west coast amerika, which makes my daylight hours prime time Europe, and afternoon/evening for the east coast, and some undefinable time for Zorba and Oz (I think the clocks run right to left in the southern hemisphere, due to the Coriolis effect;)). My problem is that with age, staying up late enough for the truly prime time fish is getting a bit beyond me. I totally petered out last night at about 2 am. WAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY past my bedtime. This all makes me wonder how well I could do in large live tourney's like the WSOP. These things thrive on late night shit, not to mention they play till very late. On those days when I have no work (many of those days, these days), if I get into a bigger cash tourney I seem anxious about something and don't do well early in the day. So, looking through my arsenal of poker tricks, I will start playing play money tourneys, at higher stakes early, until that play money br is either depleted, or I work through things. I still relate bigger play money tourney's to something in the range of a $10-$25 tourney. Play is similar. Oddly, among all the suggestions about not being results oriented, I find this to be an exception. One should always be aware of games one does poorly in, or conditions prove unfavorable, and adjust play accordingly, and that is a RESULTS ORIENTED frame of mind. Perhaps my daylight timing is a form of variance. Reasonable consideration. But I'm going on close to a month on this pattern, and at times it screams 'truth' to me. Also suggests I don't match up well against alert east coasters, or Europeans. I can work on that later. In the meantime, I'll try to capitalize on something I have (perhaps) learned, and they haven't (yet).
