Top dealers actually make six figures in some areas but, I think that is probably only the top 20% of dealers.  I'm working with a friend who is an old pro and he says the highest paying game was not the "big games" with consumate pros, but, the 10-20 no limit cash games. A new dealer is going to make less of course and probably not be good enough to make 100k a year for at least two years.  Cash games are the biggest pay here by far, and if you want to see what a dealer makes, go watch or sit in a cash game, u can watch the money flow. 
Dealing poker is a profession, or at least a highly professional undertaking but, unfortunately many dealers don't always prove that point. Not sure what they're doing elsewhere but I don't think the license here is about how well you deal poker.  A new dealer kind of sucks to the man pretty much and a casino is "giving you a shot to make it" if you are hired and the license is just about are you a criminal or not, at least in this state.  When you go interview for a job here you audition and deal a game for a while and if you do well enough they "give you a shot" at makng it to the professional ranks.
